Industry Awareness and Community Service Highlight World FM Day

The Qube Global Software team, along with members of the Philadelphia Chapter of IFMA, celebrated together on World FM Day, June 24, helping out in the local Philadelphia community. Under the guidance of Greater Philadelphia Cares, volunteers put in hours of sweat equity with two projects; the revitalization of a playground in New Kensington, and the preparation of food packages for Philabundance at the SHARE warehouse in Northeast Philadelphia.

The day was an all around success. Having completed all of the scheduled tasks in a timely fashion, a number of volunteers from New Kensington joined the assembly lines at SHARE for the remainder of the day. Strong relationships were built with each other and with the organization’s contacts, establishing the opportunity for further involvement.

“When we arrived at the park, we all noticed that the playground equipment was covered in graffiti,” stated Matthew Sheldrick, VP of business development with Qube. Armed with a few cans of paint and brushes, and a few hours of creative cover ups, “everything looked brand new.”

At the SHARE warehouse, morning volunteers saw a myriad of boxes on palettes that were to be sorted and packed. By the end of the day, the barren work area was instead organized rows of packaged boxes for needy members of the local community. The warehouse was humid but the energy was incredible. To imagine someone giving of their time every day in an environment like this may seem unlikely, but the SHARE staff love what they do and who they do it for.
